Gentle Kangaroos
Getting up close and personal with Australia’s world famous Marsupials is easy at the Australia Zoo. The Kangaroos are literally sprawled out everywhere. It is a lot of fun to hang out with them and provides for some great photo ops.
The Kangaroos at the Australia Zoo are extremely tame and approachable. Kangaroo feed is also available for you to hand feed these hopping hoons.
Which they love!
The Kangaroos here have a huge enclosed area where they are free to roam around and lounge about as they please. It makes for a good way to interact with them and see what they’re about.
It’s also very family friendly too. Many families take their children and toddlers there to get up close and personal with the ‘Roos’. The kids really get love the Kangaroos and I think the Kangaroos love all of the attention.
A Surplus of Kangaroos
Like many things in Australia, there is a surplus or in this case an abundant supply of Kangaroos. There are so many in fact that the commercial Kangaroo Industry is worth AUD$270 a year.
Kangaroo meat is used both for human food and pet food consumption. Some restaurants in Australia serve Kangaroo Pizza. Which you should add to your Must Do List if you are traveling to Australia any time soon.
Australia Zoo
The Australia Zoo is located a little over an hours drive north of Brisbane in Queensland. If you happen to be in Brisbane be sure to stop by. It makes for a great day out for families, friends or any body with an interest in Australian Wildlife. It is also the home of the late and great, Steve Irwin.
